The Woman Who Changed Fitness Forever

In 1959, Lotte Berk - a German-born dancer who had fled to London - opened a small studio on Manchester Street. Drawing from her ballet training and rehabilitative exercises, she developed a revolutionary method that would change fitness forever.

Her approach was radical for its time: small, precise movements that worked muscles to the point of fatigue, combined with deep stretching. She believed that every body could be sculpted with elegance, without ever sacrificing grace for strength.

Didi discovered the Barre method through Esther Fairfax - Lotte Berk's daughter and a master teacher in her own right. Trained directly in the original technique, Didi brings the authentic Barre method to Madrid.

With a deep understanding of the body's mechanics and a passion for helping others transform, Didi preserves the essence of Lotte Berk's revolutionary method while adapting it for today's practitioners.

Your first class is all about discovery. Arrive 10 minutes early, wear comfortable workout clothes and grip socks. I'll guide you through each movement and offer modifications for beginners.

Absolutely. I offer a trial class so you can experience the Barre method firsthand. No commitment required - just book a session and come discover what Barre can do for you.

The Barre method is wonderfully adaptable. Every exercise can be modified to accommodate injuries, joint issues, or physical limitations. Please let your instructor know about any concerns before class, and I'll ensure you have a safe and effective workout.

Barre focuses on the original method - small, precise movements at the ballet barre with an emphasis on isometric holds, flexibility, and long lean muscles. Power classes add higher-intensity elements like resistance training, heavy weights and cardio intervals, tailored to women's strength and conditioning needs.

I recommend 2–3 classes per week for visible results. Many clients notice changes in posture and strength within the first few weeks. Consistency is more important than intensity - even one class a week will make a difference.
